Collision Course by Millie Norwich Inman transports us to 18th-century Britain. Frederick, Prince of Wales, suddenly and untimely died in 1751, leaving behind his eight children, his heavily pregnant wife Princess Augusta, his unfulfilled political ambitions, and the unresolved rift with his aged father King George II. The storyline revolves around the life and times of Frederick’s thirteen-year-old son George, the future King George III of Great Britain. How will the life of young George unfold?

First and foremost, this novel is remarkable for the astounding depth of research Millie Norwich Inman put into writing it. I liked how Millie portrayed the political intrigue and historical milestones, combining the scene-setting monologues with vivid dialogues among the key players in the British political arena.

But this astounding book offers much more than a dry account of historical events played out on the grand political scene. It describes the way of life, etiquette, rituals, cuisine, and atmospheric settings. Thanks to this awesomely detailed account, one of my favorite episodes was the clean and passionate romance between William Pitt and Hester Grenville. It presented William Pitt, the future Prime Minister of Great Britain, not only as a promising statesman but also as an affectionate and devoted fiancé.

I listened to the audiobook, so I cannot comment on the editing quality of the printed edition. As for the audiobook, it was narrated by Paul McLaughlin, a talented actor who has many audiobooks to his credit. Paul excelled in bringing to life the wide variety of accents and personalities featured in this novel, perfectly performing the monologues and dialogues. I cannot think of a better narrator for this awesome audiobook, and the overall audio production was perfect too.

I did not dislike anything in this perfectly researched, written, and produced audio novel. It was informative, educational, entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable. So, I wholeheartedly rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

I highly recommend this brilliant historical novel to everyone who enjoys reading about British history.
