We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is an engaging narrative by Matthew Tysz. In the story, a young man named Galen leaves a war-ravaged land called the Lands of the Princes and travels to the kingdom of Voulhire, hoping for a fresh start. He inherits his great uncle’s blacksmith forge in a small, quiet town named Magnum Caelum. Despite the fact that Galen’s travel is to live in peace, the kingdom of Voulhire is not as peaceful as he thinks. Meanwhile, Lord Meldorath, a powerful magician accused of terrible crimes, was exiled but still looms as a dark force over the land.

As Galen adjusts to his new life, the narrative introduces multiple characters, including Eldus Alderman, the new ruler of Hillport, after Meldorath is exiled. The narrative continues to shift between Galen’s journey of self-discovery and the larger political and magical turmoil within the kingdom of Voulhire.

I like many aspects of this book. I like the author's style of writing because it is very engaging and interesting. The author clearly paints a vivid picture of the kingdom of Voulhire, making it relatable. The kingdom is perfectly depicted, showing its own history, culture, and magic system. The characters are well developed, so I related easily to them while I read the book. The narrative uses multiple perspectives of different characters to explain more about the characters and their different challenges.

I also enjoyed how the relationships between the characters are described, including the mysterious figure of Lord Meldorath or the friendship between Galen and Rowan; they are all well described, and every character feels like they have their own story to tell. This adds depth to the book. I don't dislike any aspect of this book. I noticed only a few errors while reading this book, which shows that it was professionally edited.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons I mentioned above. I recommend this book to readers who love epic fantasy filled with magic, adventure, and political intrigue.
