[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
Dorothy May Mercer’s "E M P Honeymoon" is a novel that is full of humor, romance, and adventure revolving around honeymooning couple Kelly and Tom. When the couple arrives on their dream vacation, it turns into a high-stakes mission after Kelly discovers an EMP threat to the United States. Together with CIA agents, Kelly and Tom fight dangers, relying on their bravery, wit, and unexpected friendship to save their country and enjoy their honeymoon. While having to save their skin and solve mysteries, they also learn what it means to be loyal and to love.
Reading Mercer is a breeze; her writing style maintains a brisk pace that draws readers in and keeps them hooked. She skillfully incorporates comedy and intelligence and makes for an exciting and engaging action-packed novel. Mercer excels in developing realistic characters and injecting comical dialogue that adds to the adventurous feel of the novel. Her descriptive writing and the ability to plot surprises make her narrative interesting and unpredictable. I enjoy the blend of comedy and romance, the realistic characters, their relationships, and interactions, as well as additional twists and turns, were all appealing. I found nothing to dislike about this book; it is impeccably edited, with no typos or formatting errors, which contributes to its professional presentation.
I recommend "E M P Honeymoon" to readers seeking a lighthearted and engaging read with relatable characters and a touch of adventure. Whether you are reading it on a beautiful sunny day at the beach, on a weekend getaway, or just in front of the fireplace, this novel is entertaining. The fans of Janet Evanovich or Helen Fielding will probably find Mercer’s writing style appealing.
For the sake of clarity and its compelling plot, spirited prose, efficient editing, and entertainment, I award “E M P Honeymoon” by Dorothy May Mercer five out of five stars. The humorous narrative coupled with the romance and adventure aspect of the story, together with the fine edition and presentation, makes the book perfect for any reader looking forward to a great read.
