“Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book” by Kalliope Barlis was a surprisingly more pleasant read than I anticipated.

Though I grew up swinging a golf club from a young age, I am not much of a golfer. I was inspired by my grandfather, who was a professional golfer. My grandfather always spoke highly of Tiger Woods and would watch the latest games on television. However, in recent years, I have transitioned toward disc golf. I was unsure of how much insight I would get from this book. But what I found was brief, concise, and practical instruction on how to improve my skills.

This book gives practical advice that could be useful across multiple sports, despite being specific to golfing. The author begins this book with fundamental approaches involving the use of your mind. The author takes a philosophical approach to golf, where golfers are encouraged to hold an optimistic view of their capabilities, with the understanding that they are made of the same elements of the broader universe. A positive approach to who we are can provide an optimistic mindset for further success. This book continues with ideas about how mental optimism can drive productivity and how this optimistic mindset operates in synchrony with our physical capabilities.

The author continues by describing the Swish Pattern for golfing, which involves concepts related to the development of mental and muscle memory. Golfers are advised to think through each shot to improve their golf skills. This would further lead to the development of memories for enhanced performance. These practices are suggested to improve target awareness. The author describes the value of practicing with the intent of learning and being intentional while playing. This practice would further result in gameplay improvements.
The author later continues with step-by-step guidelines to implement his instruction and toward the end describes a more comprehensive strategy for golf improvement. The author's comprehensive strategy includes thinking through golf techniques before bed and studying professional tournaments on TV. The book then describes more specifics of the practice of playing golf.

Regarding the strengths of this book, I really enjoyed its brevity, clarity, and practical nature. The tips offered by the author seemed practical. It was also generally well-written with few grammatical errors.

Regarding the weaknesses of this book, I honestly do not have anything negative to say about it. This book is precisely what its title states that it is. This book makes for a nice short read for readers interested in improving their skills at golfing.

Given the book's brevity and practical nature, I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I look forward to future works by this author.

It reminds me of a football player who practiced by imagining himself with the ball doing the play he wanted to try out in the next match. Of course, his manager cried seeing him swinging in his hammock but he succeeded. You review reminded me of this story.
