This delightful book, Donny and Mary Grace’s California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe, shares an interesting and heartwarming story that revolves around two siblings' experiences as they embark on a series of adventures across California.

Donny, born with Down syndrome, and Mary Grace are the only children of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. Things have always been sweet and interesting until everything takes a huge turn: their parents need to move to Africa for two years!

The Millers have no choice but to send the kids down to their grandparents in California. Starting a new life in California, things don’t go as planned as the siblings are subjected to bullying by anonymous letters at their new school, and they are threatened with Donny’s condition to leave the school. With the help of the "Grandma Gang," their Grandma Cathy and her friends, they solve the threat of bullying and identify the culprits.

One thing I commend about the book is how the author drew inspiration from real-life scenarios and characters like Donny and built on it to write an interesting piece for young adults. I also appreciate the author’s writing style, emphasizing the children's feelings. This will encourage young readers to speak up and be open about their feelings, helping them find solutions to problems. The book has been so compelling to read from the beginning, giving off a fresh and happy vibe, and the author promotes kindness and peace.

This book is both educational and entertaining and teaches about teamwork, resilience, and the importance of family. Additionally, it offers an adventure that young readers will find engaging and enjoyable.

I recommend Donny and Mary Grace’s California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe for families and young readers interested in an adventurous story. This book is well-edited, and I found no grammatical errors whatsoever. I’ll rate this book a full 5 out of 5 stars because it is moderately written with words that are appropriate for youngsters. I found nothing to objectively dislike about this book.
