Ten years ago, Sheldon disappeared, leaving nothing but his bloody clothes behind. No one knows what happened, except for his old high school friends. They know he disappeared in a mysterious and confusing place that Sheldon used to call The Middle Reaches. After a class reunion, the group starts reminiscing about the old times. After admitting none of them was able to leave the past behind, they decide to embark on an adventure and find the truth about what happened to Sheldon. As they get deeper into The Middle Reaches, they will not only face unimaginable dangers but discover that some stories are scarier in real life. Will they make it out? This mystery and horror story will keep the reader engaged from the beginning. I could not stop reading it. The author’s writing style is simple yet entertaining, easy to read, and the story flows beautifully. The story is divided into sixty episodes (or chapters), and each chapter provides the reader with the different perspectives of each character, which I enjoyed, as the reader gets to connect with each character and better understand what is happening. I was constantly surprised, could not perfectly predict what was happening, and overall, I was captivated by the mystery behind The Middle Reaches.
There is nothing negative I can say about The Middle Reaches. I enjoyed every episode; the book is exceptionally well-edited and completely error-free. Because of this, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
The book gives this warning from the beginning, but before I can recommend it to anyone, I must also warn that it is intended for a mature audience as it contains violence and sexual scenes. While I did not find the scenes overly explicit, I believe the book is recommended for adults. Fanatics of the horror and mystery genres will adore this book.
