The Hermit Gryphon by Paula Grover is a fantasy adventure following the story of a gryphon named Tal. Once known as Talona the Terrible and Terror Queen of Gryphonia, she goes on a journey to heal her soul from the atrocities she committed in her past. She journeys to a place called Forest Lake Nesting Site, a community where misfits of all kinds go to heal and make a new name for themselves. During healing, she must endure the scrutiny from others and reminders of what she has done. While dealing with this a sudden new villain has emerged and it’s up to Tal to save her former homeland.

This book was amazing to read! I’m blown away by the storytelling and the amount of detail that went into the world-building. The world is beautiful, and you can’t help but fall in love with the characters, especially Tal. There is also beautiful artwork featured in the book showing the different creatures that you come across while reading. I loved this small detail as it made it easier to imagine certain creatures. I also found no errors while reading and this book is well edited!

I don’t have many negative aspects when it comes to this book. I will say that it is quite long and I do feel that some scenarios were dragged out. I felt this was only prevalent when it came to certain characters and dialogues. It’s not a major issue but it does make it harder to stay engaged in the storyline. I will also note that this book does contain descriptions of violence and slight gore.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars! I gave this rating because this book is perfect, in my opinion. It’s an amazing fantasy story that is fun, thrilling, and meaningful all at the same time!

I recommend this book to young adults and adults who need a good fantasy read!
