Review of Stolid

[Following is a volunteer review of "Stolid" by Aaron D Key.]
Stolid by Aaron D Key is a book that follows a man named "Stolid." The book portrays the life of Stolid and his relationships. The book starts with Stolid being stranded in the rain and being given a ride by a stranger, or so he thinks. What happens to Stolid during and after this ride? What role does the stranger play in Stolid's life? Who is this stranger? Read this book to find out more.
I liked this book as it contained a theme of love stories, friendship, and the use of flashbacks telling the life story of Stolid. This book uses a lot of flashbacks as Stolid recalls his life experiences, and it is written in a first-person point of view. The book also portrays Stolid's ability to remain calm in his encounter with a person he has no recollection of and also his relationships with other people. I enjoyed how the author started the story, from being stranded in the rain to being picked up by a stranger and being taken to a location he was familiar with, and the story unfolds from his conversations with this stranger. I kind of found his relationship with Johnathon weird, but I fancied the understanding they had between themselves, and I appreciated that they got back together after the breakup and he was happy with Johnathon.
I disliked that Johnathon's friends, Lizzie, his ex-wife, and Timothy, wanted Stolid too because I believe your friends shouldn't go after someone you are involved with but respect boundaries and not cause a wreck in your relationship. I felt his friends didn't love him enough, but if they did, then they had a really weird way of showing it in their twisted friendship bond.
Given the previously mentioned reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it is a good book and it was exceptionally well-edited and well-written.
It gives me pleasure to recommend this book to individuals who enjoy reading good books and are not sensitive to books about gay stories.
