Review of Lost Inheritance

[Following is a volunteer review of "Lost Inheritance" by Obert Holl [author name "Baruch"].]
A non-fiction book with the main story about a land in Africa, namely Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe, that has been fought over for a long time. Apart from that, this book also tells the lives of multiple generations of the Holl family, from great-grandfather to the author. The Holl family were witnesses who experienced firsthand the war over Rhodesia.
"Lost Inheritance" by Obert Holl [author name “Baruch"]. Before the story of Rhodesia and the Holl family begins, the author starts this book with the historical story of Mzilikazi, who was initially a leading general in Tshaka’s army, then with the twists and turns of a long journey led him to become a Southern African king who founded the Khumalo kingdom of Matabeleland, part of Rhodesia. The idea of colonizing Rhodesia first emerged in 1885. Then, in 1893, the amaNdebele (Matabele) army suffered a defeat in the war, and between 1896 and 1897, the author’s ancestor, Pat (Harry Patrick Holl), took part in the Second Matabele War.
Here, descriptions of various events such as war, the arrival of white people, colonialism, culture, and many other things that serve as lessons and reminders are outlined in quite a detail. However, the most heartbreaking thing is the hardships and harshness of the colonial period, which forced each person to continue to struggle through the bitterness of that period, which was not only experienced by the author’s ancestors but was also an experience felt by the author’s father, the author, and the author's siblings.
In summary, I think this book has many positive sides that can help study the history, culture, politics, and several other things of Rhodesia better because it comes from accurate sources. While the negative side, in my opinion, is not visible here. A non-fiction book with a clear and good presentation like this is very suitable for historians or used as an opener of insight into life. Next, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for details of the events and touching experiences.
