Charles P. Graham's debut novel, Survive! Marooned on Planet Tau Ceti g, provides an intriguing blend of ecological research, speculative science, and survival drama.

The book opens with a meteor storm that destroys the starship Copernicus, leaving a handful of survivors stranded on the alien planet Tau Ceti g. The story expertly balances scientific accuracy and human tenacity as the survivors acclimate to the planet's unique environment.

The descriptions provide a very detailed scene, but in my opinion, many lines could've been written a bit better, especially for where they were. As an example, the sentence, “He recognized her as a second-class medical technician, Amanda Steward, even though part of her forehead was missing at the hairline, exposing an area of missing brain.” This sentence would flow better if it began with the description.

On the other hand, what I like best about the book is how Graham depicts this new planet. It has beautiful and imaginative world-building that feels realistic and interesting. With anything from large herbivores to carnivorous insects and clever, canine-like "pidoggs," Tau Ceti g features a diverse ecosystem.

Throughout the book, the survivors face ethical issues and realistic challenges. Graham's attention to detail shines in scenes that delve deep into a mix of real and speculative science. In this regard, Graham managed to keep it interesting, simple, and without too many complex words.

Ultimately, Survive! Marooned on Planet Tau Ceti g is about human ingenuity and the will to survive. The novel’s exploration of themes like mental health, teamwork, and the cost of survival deepens its emotional impact. Whether you love science fiction, survival, drama, or are just interested in speculative sciences and the like, this book is a fascinating and thought-provoking read. It is because of Charles P. Graham's impressive worldbuilding, great writing, nearly flawless editing, and overall story interest that I rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5.
