In his Roadmap to the End of Days, Daniel Friedmann compares history to a glass maze. In a glass maze you may think you found the exit only to find yourself back in the middle, hopelessly going through the same area again and again. Only by standing above it can you see the patterns, exits, and the way through it. In his book, he hopes to stand above the glass maze of history and give us the patterns and tell us the probable outcome. The question is, is there only one exit or many?

While the Introduction compares Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths, this book is written from a Jewish perspective in terms of when the Messiah will come, the End of Days and the Seventh Millennium. He looks at history from a scientific and supernatural perspective.

The author believes that we can each play a role in deciding when the End of Days will come and that we can affect the outcome based on what we do. His premise is that “...during Creation God withdrew or concealed himself so we could exist and exercise free will” (Chapter 2). The things that affect Divine Purpose are humanity and Amalek. In other words, we can affect future events based on the good or bad that we do and Amalek is an enemy who continually attacks Israel down through history.

This book contains many charts and tables showing the cycle of events in history of critical periods, Creation Days, Sefirah, and many other significant events. There are appendixes, a glossary and end notes. He uses the pattern from the past four critical periods in history to forecast the fifth. He also comes up with dates forecasting future events.

I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. It was a fascinating read by an authority in the subject. It was well written and documented and I enjoyed seeing how cycles in history are being repeated and foretelling the future. I was interested in the way he related days of Creation to each other in cycles of three and also how each day relates to a person or period in history right up to the Millennium.

If you are at all interested in Biblical Eschatology, knowing what we can do to change or forecast the future, or want a glimpse into mindset of Jews and their beliefs of history and the end of the world, this is a good book to get and read.
