Review of The Devil Pulls the Strings

I enjoyed reading it, it was a great experience but I would probably not read it again. It’s really rare for me to read a book for a second time, though.
It reminded me of video games with the quests and how there was always something to do; it was fun. I really liked how there were short chapters; I prefer those instead of long chapters. The short chapters made it look like you were reading in a faster pace. The story wasn’t stretched out, it had a great pace and there weren’t any scenes that were just there to be fillers. It was captivating and was just enough for my ADHD brain.
There weren’t typos, the book was edited really well. English is not my main language but the writing was good and it was easy to read.
The characters were unique and interesting. I liked how the details about them weren’t pushed in our faces and didn’t get lost in them. It felt natural as Boone described things, not over the top. I liked how everyone had their own personality, the dynamic among the characters was fun and lovable.
There were times when I got a little lost in the details and sometimes it was too much information. That’s one of the reasons I rated it only 4/5 stars because this is not particularly something that would just let your brain switch off and rest. You might miss something that could be important later if you don’t pay attention.
I’m not that big of a fan of pure fantasy books and I need some romance in the books I read, but it wasn’t needed in this book even though there was a small little romance aspect hidden there.
Overall, I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes plot-heavy and quest-oriented fantasy books.
