Rainbows of Joy by Lynn M. shares the author’s challenging life and how she overcame it by putting faith in God. An alcoholic first marriage, an abusive husband, painful childhood memories, and so on and on, her life was a hopeless one. But by drawing courage from church groups, AA meetings, and especially Father LaVerne Wingert, she beats her hardships to make her life hopeful enough to live.

This book has a lot to learn from. It is a testimony to the author’s challenging life living with an alcoholic and abusive husband and how it impacted not only her life but also her children’s lives to the core. She used to blame herself for her miseries, thinking it was all her fault and constantly turning away from any little chance she had to get her life back to normal. Life kept giving her challenges one above the other. We can all somewhat relate to this, as we all have our own problems in life. It doesn’t matter what the problems are. What really matters is how we withstand and overcome the problems. That is where this book comes in handy. The author’s resilience proves that “letting go and letting God” is the right way. This book also gives much emphasis to the 12-step program, which the author uses to slowly take back her life that seemed to be lost forever.

I liked the book overall. Namely, the life lessons it put forth, the emphasis on learning to forgive ourselves and others, the motto “Let go and let God,” the 12-step program, and last but not least, the motivation we get by reading this were what I liked the most. I did not find any negatives apart from a grammatical error.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars on the basis of the above-mentioned positives of the book. I did not find any negatives enough to affect the rating.

I recommend this book to anyone suffering from any kind of problem in life and is on the verge of losing hope forever. Just read this book and make yourself able to see your own rainbows of joy. Although this book is written from a Christian perspective, the idea it shares caters to all regardless of religion.
