Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
Snatched Up to Heaven!
Christian scholar Dr. Jemima Paul has penned a captivating narrative of her family's religious visionary experiences. Her children, Priyanka and Deepika, the true protagonists of this narrative, were merely four and two years old when they were blessed with dreams of meeting Jesus. They shared their experiences through video recordings while their mother transcribed their words.
As a scholar of Christianity, Dr. Jemima Paul brings a unique perspective to her children's descriptions of heaven and hell, Jesus, God, and the angels. She carefully analyzes their words, not claiming a scientific approach but using her knowledge and intuition to find parallels in the Bible. Her systemic translation and interpretation of children's dreams help the reader understand the significance of their visions. Her methodical approach, combined with scholarly knowledge, allows Dr. Paul to find quotes from the Bible that relate to her children's exact visions, giving reason to their dreams as ancient truths written by the prophets.
Even if you are not theologically inclined, you can appreciate the lines connecting the children's experiences and different places in the scriptures. It is compelling to conclude that there is a reason why her children were chosen to make this journey of visions with Jesus as a savior, and that is because Dr. Jemima Paul could record their words as proof of the scripture's teachings.
The unique aspect of her book lies in the fact that the dreams were recounted by children of such a tender age who could not possibly have known or heard of the intricate details they encountered in their divine journey with Jesus.
Jemima is a loving, caring, and devoted mother and wife whose capacity to listen to her daughters and interpret their thoughts exceeds most parenting expectations. She can apply her knowledge of Christianity and faith to the ultimate best nurturing pattern that gives her children free expression and limitless imagination. Throughout the book, Jemima questions whether she or others could have influenced her daughters to speak with such clarity about strange places they visited in dreams. Repeatedly, the answer is the same: it was impossible to instill such complexity, as the girls were too young to imagine something so divine as the places they described. Their free expression and limitless imagination make their experiences extraordinary and thought-provoking. It is well documented that the children are friends of Jesus and are often chosen as angels or prophets on earth reporting visions from God. I wondered whether there could be other children whose dreams about supernatural places would be heard if anyone listened as carefully as Dr. Paul listened to her children.
The virtues described in the book are part of the children's visions that closely align with the Christian demands for a sin-free life; for example, love God, respect your parents, or love others. However, seeking good morals and a life of virtues is not exclusively a Christian faith-derived idea. Other religions and simply righteous people teach their children the same rules. This is where Jemima's book transcends the religious source to become a universal guide for honest life and good parenting.
Dr. Jemima Paul often completes the chapter by speaking directly to the reader. She encourages us to pray and trust God instead of spending a life in fear. Her words as a scholar and a person of deep devotion to God may cause resentment in nonbelievers, or, possibly, they may remind readers what faith they have missed in their journey. Nevertheless, with strength and bravery, she opens up her heart to the unknown with all her might. Nothing could be more compelling, honest, and influential than allowing everyone to listen and hear the words of children who cannot lie. Ultimately, whom you believe is your decision.
I recommend this book to those who identify as Christians of all ages, and I rate it 5/5 stars for sound editing.
