[Following is a volunteer review of "The Art of Entertaining" by Maggie Fleming.]
Maggie Fleming's The Art of Entertaining is a concise guide to proper etiquette and the overall activities involved in the hosting of social events such as weddings, birthdays, and the holidays. With a friendly tone and writing that is clear and easy to understand, the author has provided key points for both hosts and guests regarding the manner of conduct, as well as the suitable elements (such as edibles, drinks, and decor) required for a successful event to be achieved. Tips on how to handle pet dogs with respect to these events have also been provided.
The Art of Entertaining was quite inviting for me to read. From its book cover to the overall theme, as well as the illustrations, I found it really engaging. The font selection is perfect; I didn't have to zoom in to read better. I especially love the tone portrayed throughout the book. I could definitely sense the author's helpfulness and amiability. The brevity of the book was also a plus for me. Though brief, the contents of the book are extremely valuable, as the author, while trying to be as straightforward as possible, also explains some of the concepts that readers might not immediately grasp.
All in all, The Art of Entertaining was an absolute pleasure to read. The editing of the book is perfect with no notable errors, and its delivery is spot on. There is nothing I would change about it. For these reasons, I'm pleased to award The Art of Entertaining by Maggie Fleming a full rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
The Art of Entertaining is a book I recommend to homemakers, caterers, and event planners or anyone who would like to go into these fields. Also, for anyone who would like a quick yet insightful guide to hosting a successful event or attending an event successfully, this book is definitely the complete package.
