Superhighway is the first presentation, “first-born’’, in the series of Superhighway by Alex Fayman. This story is set in the modern time with internet being its focus, its cornerstone. The story is hinged upon Alex Fine, who is definitely the main character in this story. For a long time, Alex Fine happens to live his whole life privately since he is invisible most of the time. Later on, he discovers how much unique he is since his prowess is very effective. Alex can browse the internet and can access an array of information from there. His great ability to use the internet well interferes with his enrollment as a first year student at West Coast University, a high status learning institution.

This young man, eighteen year old, is able to access any computer in the world. He uses the internet as a means of travelling to any part of the world. This is the superhighway in this story. Alex has access to databases and can view various information on military weapons’ code, bank account information and various other information from the internet. After a short while, Alex commands a lot of wealth and becomes one of the richest men on this planet. His wealth puts him in a favorable position to wield a lot of power.

One interesting thing that I loved with Alex Fine, is that he uses his ability to assist the poor. He is able to access bank accounts of various criminal groups and even steal their money. He later uses this money to fulfill his philanthropic mission. Alex had been orphaned at a very tender age and so he had to be brought up in an orphanage. In my opinion, I think this is what makes him to be philanthropic. His action of stealing money from criminal groups’ account is the genesis of his problems. He later realizes that he is no longer hidden since he is being pursued. He is no longer the hunter, but the hunted. This is the grave decision that impacts him negatively.

I really liked the book since it exploits the use of the internet, which is a modern day thing. Character development is equally perfect as the author develops Alex into a fine and likable character. This is a modern sci-fi book that will never fail to thrill and captivate its readers. It has been tailored to suit the modern society of today.

I would recommend this book to young readers who would like to read about the internet. The book is well written to enable readers attain full satisfaction. I failed to notice any problems in this book and therefore I awarded it 4 out of 4 stars. Hope you will strive to read Superhighway and get thrilled.

I feel like we read entirely different books. I was woefully disappointed with this one. I liked the premise, but Alex was such a complete jerk, I couldn't muster any sympathy for him. It's hard to enjoy a story when you don't like the "hero."
