Review of By Invitation Only
In By Invitation Only by Nicholas L. Maze, the author takes his readers on a thought-provoking journey where we explore the ways we can deepen our understanding of God’s love. He made mention of various invitations, one of which is an invitation to trust and an invitation to testify. The author invites us to trust in God’s plan for us without having a doubt in mind. We should trust that God has never failed us, and he never will. He also teaches that we should always speak of the goodness of God to those around us. By doing so, we are given the opportunity to make believers out of the people we testify to.
Maze, through his life experiences, encourages us to adopt stubborn faith, which is a necessity to overcome the free will God has given to man. He concludes by telling us that we should always remember that God wants to work with us, and we should be receptive to what he is doing in our present season.
I really loved how the author was able to break down each section of the chapters. It allowed for better understanding, and his use of simple grammar and concise sentences made it an easy read for everyone who would decide to pick up this book, even nonbelievers. The icing on the cake was how the author used his personal life experiences to buttress his point and his tone in explaining his teachings. It’s evident that he isn’t trying to impose his ideas on us, but rather he is trying to convince us by giving evidential reasons to believe him. One of the teachings that seemed rather impossible to believe before but with a better understanding from this book, I’m convinced, is that sickness is not of God but rather an opportunity for God to reveal himself to us. Bizarre, right? Pick up this book to find out why.
I really loved everything about this book, so I think it’s fair for me to rate it a 5 out of 5. There is nothing to dislike about it, and I found no grammatical errors, which allowed for a seamless reading. I highly recommend this book to those who are looking to strengthen their faith in Christ.
