Seven Churches on Trial is a book about hope. Hope that drives the faithful to remain vigilant and steadfast throughout the dark and evil times we are living through. The intricate story of the Church of Jesus Christ and its development throughout the ages is thoroughly analysed from beginning to present. From the early Christian faith, to Revelation prophecy, Joseph Patrick does an amazing job in showing why he teaches end time prophecies before deciding to write this book.

The Book begins by delving into esoteric topics such as "what are angels?" and "what will happen at the end of the ages?" which sets a good background for readers on every level of their spiritual journeys. The following chapters then begin to explain about all the types of churches mentioned in Revelation and why Jesus directly addresses them in their own regards, the author does an amazing job in explaining the contextual value of the words in the Bible by also linking past churches and their eras with modern Christianity and the denominations that believers attend today. If you are a church-goer then you will find it useful to read about the type of church you go to and identify if there is spiritual "lukewarmness" in your community and how Jesus would tell you to improve based on your faults.

The book delves into the Growth of the Church, explaining motifs for wars, the rise of a pagan mix of Christianity with original Bible worship. Most importantly, it points out the not so obvious by challenging beliefs held by mainstream Christianity, the rise of the Roman Empire and the corruptness of the Word. You will find it shocking to know that most of the holidays and traditions held today are not of Jesus but of pagan traditions.

Overall, the book is very informative for all Christians and non Christians alike. It is suitable for all ages, and it has a good historical spin to back up the claims made by the Author. There are strong references to Scripture and although the Word can be interpreted in many different ways, the author does a great job in relaying the message of Christ in all its purity. That said, the book is not without its shortcomings. While it excels in drawing thought-provoking connections between ancient and modern Christianity, it occasionally lacks nuance in its theological interpretations, presenting certain claims as definitive truths rather than inviting discussion. Some sections feel repetitive, and the analysis would benefit from addressing counterarguments to strengthen its original points. For these reasons, while Seven Churches on Trial is a compelling and accessible read, it falls short of being a truly exceptional work. It earns a solid 3 out of 5 stars—worthwhile for those seeking an introduction to these themes, but readers desiring deeper critical analysis or balanced debate may find it lacking.
