Review of Batty Wings

[Following is a volunteer review of "Batty Wings" by Marlene Rattigan.]
This is one of the cutest and best-written children's books I have read. It tells the story of Nanna, who turns into a bat at night and flies around. One day, her children asked why the skin under her arms was loose, and then she told them that those were her batty wings. She further explained that she watches the house whenever she flies around at night and discusses random things with her other bat friends. Out of curiosity, her children wanted to see her in action, and after so much back and forth, she found a way to make them understand why they couldn't see her in her bat form. But flying around at night is not all that happens when Nanna transforms, as one night she witnesses an incident.
One of the main things I liked about this book, Batty Wings by Marlene Rattigan, was how colorful and vibrant it was; it gave the book a warm and cozy atmosphere. The drawings in the book are perfect, and they match perfectly with the story. I also liked how simple the dialogue was. It was short and straight to the point, especially the part where Nanna explained why she couldn't let them see her in her bat form. I also liked how athletic Nanna looked despite having children. Despite being a very short book, it was well-written and had a perfect ending.
I have no dislikes about this book. Since it is a children's book, the author passed the message clearly and in a way that wouldn't confuse young readers. The book's editing was flawless, and I didn't come across any errors while reading. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for these reasons. I recommend this book to children and younger readers, and I certainly look forward to more books from this author.
