Strong Heart is a captivating tale of Sarah/ Strong Heart journeying through her past life, whilst adventuring in her present. Sarah begins at a new start in her life, suddenly thrust into a family she hardly knows at all, full of typical teenage angst, we see her new found family try and work out one another and slowly bonds are formed. They bicker and laugh and surprise each other as if they have been together years.

Full of intrigue and myths, with its witty characters, it truly draws you into the legends, whilst describing the beautiful scenery. The trail sounds like an ancient place of magic, that you're lucky to be there witnessing it. They pull together against a common enemy who are trying to lay pipelines and frack the ancient land for profit.

Initially the flashbacks to the Strong Heart scenes, especially characters names could be confusing as it is written somewhat fast paced. But you get used to the flow and get drawn into the story very quickly. It is written differently, as if more simplistic to reflect the time, and lifestyle, but is still fraught with emotions which helps you understand all of the past life characters. Each has there own little backstory which helps you connect to them more than your average background characters, they all serve a purpose and have a role to play. The journey sounds like the stuff of legends, that you might study during history class.

I enjoyed all the descriptions of the scenery very much, it's why I love reading, painting the pictures in my mind, there's no way to know if you are correct, but it's part of the fun of imagining! And this book was fantastic for helping me envision everything! The landscape, the animals, colours and textures, I could envision everything so clearly. Not all books have such in depth descriptions and have more dialogue or monologue from the characters so it was a nice element.

I gave the story 4 out of 4 stars as it was incredible, and would have been a 5 star story, (if possible) but I found the ending infuriating, I'm a sucker for a happy ending and getting closure, so to end somewhat abruptly without knowing how things end up, was gutting for me personally.

But that just goes to show how invested I was in the characters!! Hopefully there is a sequel so I can find out what happens next!

I read (and reviewed) this one too. I agree the ending left me wanting more. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Thank you for your review. You need not worry about the ending anymore as I read from somewhere that volume 2 is already in the pipeline; I've seen the covers in one of the author's forum posts. Volume 3 is also being written as of the moment I believe, too.
