Alex Fine has no idea of his past. He was raised in an orphanage by Ms. Jenkins, who became a mother figure to him. As her gets ready to age out of the only home he has ever known, he discovers that he has the ability to travel through the passages of the Internet. There he is capable of hacking into secure databases and retrieving sealed information. While on one of his excursions, Alex discovers he is not alone. These newcomers lead him to a path of discovery as he learns about the parents he never knew and the extent and birth of his extraordinary gift.

This is a very well written book. The author’s attention to detail draws the reader into the story with ease. Every character and location is described to the smallest detail that allows the reader to visualize the story. Alex Fayman, the author, does a great job at developing the characters throughout the story. Alex starts of with an unknown power and decides how to use it, eventually learning that he may not have been using it correctly the entire time. The imagery paired with the character development creates an engulfing read.

The idea of the possibility of being able to use the Internet as a form of transportation is intriguing. With all the new technological developments, Fayman does an expert job at creating a modern science fiction book. Superhighway is the perfect blend for the modern day reader.

There were only a few mistakes that I found in this book. There was an extra space, some homophone issues using wave and waive, and the use of “were” instead of “was”. These were minuscule errors that didn’t take away from the storyline and did not cause any disruptions. Fayman uses quite a few advanced words throughout this book, some of which I had to look up. I don’t find that upsetting, but it may cause a problem for others.

I give Superhighway by Alex Fayman 4 out of 4 stars. It is the perfect modern day read with just enough science fiction mixed in. The few mistakes that were found were easily overlooked inpart to the great character development and imagery. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a book that you won’t be able to put down. There are some advanced words that can challenge one’s vocabulary which may cause a problem for younger individuals.
