Reading Wellness on the Weekly, by Adrianne Lind, felt like finally being able to exhale after holding in my breath for far too long. It's not another irritating self-help book, but rather a warmly funny and honestly refreshing approach to anyone who has ever felt in need of some healing, without being told to be perfect.

Lind makes herself approachable from the very first sentence-who can call themselves distant from an expert-who has, in fact, lived and breathed all that she writes about? Lind's biography is inspiring: healing from a near-fatal fall, handling grief, and really strong bouts with illness. But somehow, even hearing about any of this, one doesn't feel heavy feeling. It feels optimistic! So much so it makes the book stand apart. The book is not just about well-being; it is about feeling human again.

The format is really straightforward and good: one exercise per week for 52 weeks across the year. It is very manageable—there are no expectations to turn your universe inside out in one day. One week you are breathing; the next you are writing, or perhaps just stopping. That slow, gentle kind of approach is a huge plus.

Three things spoke to me big time:
Firstly, it's a non-threatening, upbeat tone. We are invited, not condemned.
Secondly, the questions are fun: health is an experiment, not a test.
Finally, the author's own real-life struggles lend him that emotional credibility; you believe her because she's been there.
