Being the second book of The Chrome Mountain saga by Ben Schneider, ‘The North Factor’ exceeded my expectation with its fast-paced and action-packed scenes. The writing and the flow of the book makes it hard to put the book down once you start reading it. The detail-oriented writing helps readers to envision all the spectacular moves that our main character Sonya performs.

Sonya Radisson is a strong and brave woman who charms you with her biker skills and witty comebacks. The book starts with Sonya and her husband Trey living a peaceful life. Sonya gets a text from a dear friend whom she assumed to be dead for almost a year, asking her to visit her as a dying wish. Unable to say no, she accepts the request and begins her long journey to meet her friend. The journey gets interrupted when Sonya is abducted by some men who sedate her. Sonya wakes up in an unknown place riddled with questions about her whereabouts and concern regarding her return to her beloved husband. Will Sonya escape the horrible place, or will she learn about the things that would put both her and Trey in danger? The book answers both the questions in a thrilling manner and adds more with Sonya’s exhilarating escapades. The reader gets to travel with Sonya and admire her strength in handling adverse situations.

Trey Radisson is a brilliant scientist and a loving husband. Trey gets concerned about Sonya when he doesn’t receive any updates regarding her journey. Worried for her safety, he contacts help and does everything he could to get his wife back. Trey’s love for Sonya is enviable when you finish the book and understand what he has done for her. The trust between the couple is astonishing.

The book contains some profanity and sexual innuendo, so i would not recommend anyone below age 16 to read it. The mention of Christian religion at some parts could be offending to people of other religion. There were almost no errors in the book, making it easy and captivating to read. The use of technology and the mind-blowing inventions mentioned in the book would excite all sci-fi lovers. Overall, i rate the book 4/4 stars as it is one of the most thrilling books i have read this year. I would highly recommend ‘The north factor’ to anyone looking for an action/sci-fi book as it can be read as a standalone as well.

This sounds like a really interesting plot. Do you think I need to read the first book in the series to understand the background story or can this one stand-alone?
