Hating bedtime with a passion is something that most kids all around the world can agree on. Who wants to go to bed when the whole world is waiting outside for you?!

Luckily, someone has been brave enough to tackle this issue head-on, fighting the good fight for all of those misunderstood kids! Billy Jack hatches his exciting plan: The Great Escape. After being put to bed while it is still light out, Billy Jack decides that he's had enough, and he embarks on a mission to still have his fun, even after bedtime. During his adventures, Billy Jack finds himself climbing out of a window, falling into a rosebush, and battling an incredibly ill-timed sprinkler. All this and more can be read about in the exciting Stevie Tenderheart Books - Billy Jack (The Great Escape) by Steve William Laible.

I found the writing in this book to be captivating and enjoyable. The mischievous and relatable nature of the plot is a clever way to keep the audience invested in the story.

One of my favourite aspects of this book was the inclusion of definitions of the words that younger children may not be familiar with yet. I think this is a fantastic way to help retain their interest, as they won't be discouraged or miss out on any of the storyline just because they don't understand what a particular word means.

I am genuinely unable to come up with a single negative point to bring up about this book. The author's writing was clear and captivating, and I think that children who have just started reading could learn a lot from their time with Billy Jack. I found two errors, but they did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. So, I happily rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to parents looking for an easy and exciting read for their youngsters. I believe introducing them to books like this one at a young age will definitely increase their excitement about picking up a book for themselves. However, I do think parents should exercise some caution when introducing their little ones to this book. They wouldn't want them following in Billy Jack's footsteps!
