I give the book “Opaque” by Calix Leigh-Reign a five out of five. The book is very interesting, filled with action, twists, and cool ideas. The author has only a couple grammar errors that don’t interrupt the flow of the book. In the sci-fi category, I don’t believe I’ve read a book like this one!

“Opaque” is about a teenager named Adam who feels like he doesn’t belong and is different from the others. He wonders if he’s a monster and why things about him feel so different. It’s not until he meets someone, a girl named Carly, that he learns more about himself, his background, his family, and why he’s always felt different. Will he find out if he’s bad or good?

I believe the author did a great job at writing the book. It is written at a good pace, meaning the book isn’t a slow read. From the beginning it already makes you want to keep reading. The book is not long, but so much happened. It is full of action, twists, and heroic events, and the author has a great way of adding characters that have super-cool powers. If you’re into sci-fi and supernatural powers, I’m sure you’re going to love reading it. One thing: there is a bit of a taboo topic that may make you feel uncomfortable; however, once you keep reading, it reveals the reason as to why it is included. I still give it a five out of five, because the author reveals why the taboo part was happening. After that minor taboo part, and once the main character of the book, Adam, meets someone, Carly, the story gets much better. The author is very creative with the book characters and events of the story, as it includes supernatural powers, character growth, love, action, and tests of being good or evil.
