North Factor, being the second installment in the Chrome Mountain Saga, delivers a mix of action-packed adventure, suspense thriller, dark humor, and loyalty. Ben Schneider’s writing is sharp and cinematic, every moment easy to visualize. Although this is a sequel, the book can be read on its own. New readers provided enough background to follow the plot without confusion.

Sonya Radisson is our fierce and resilient heroine who is trying to live a peaceful life with her husband, Trey, after escaping a traumatic past involving outlaw biker gangs and criminal chaos. One day, she receives a text message from Becky Lugo, a friend presumed dead, and Sonya sets out to meet her. But her journey becomes a drastic adventure when she is abducted and confined to a shady mental institution with abusive, corrupt, and dark secrets.

Sonya is smart, caring, strong, and stays cool under pressure. She is a woman of action, willing to risk her life to help others and gain her freedom. Clue by clue, the mastermind is revealed. Will Sonya survive the storm or be dragged into something far darker?

The book is written in a pattern that is easy to understand. Every detail is described clearly, and I can picture the action and fight scene. It’s like you are there with the heroine. It contains no significant language or formatting errors, making it an enjoyable read. Readers should be aware that it contains mature content, including scenes of violence, killing, torture, psychological trauma, drug use, and sexual assault. Because of this, the North Factor is not suitable for readers under 17.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. While North Factor dominated in action and gore-filled situations, more romantic moments will help relieve the tension. If I had to point out one weakness, it’s that some parts of the story felt a bit repetitive, which made reading toward the ending slightly less exciting. Even so, this is a well-written novel that keeps the adrenaline flowing and entertains readers. I recommended it for fans who like crime thrillers, action-packed stories, and strong female protagonists.

This book can be adapted into an action film as every action, moment, and explosion is described perfectly in writing. With a good actor/actress, it can gain popularity in an action movie. There are bikes, guns, weapons, helicopters, and other action props that will surely satisfy hardcore action movie fans. The author maybe have watched or researched action and military-style films. Several military-style terms are used throughout the novel, and they are accurate.

If you're new to the series and starting with North Factor, I recommend reading the first book to help you understand why Sonya is in this situation. Some references in this story are clearer if you read the first Chrome Mountain Saga book.
