This was a very intriguing read, especially towards the middle of the book. I was honestly expecting a typical sort of vampire-themed book, with werewolves and other monsters, but the turn it took towards the final chapters was mind-boggling. At times, I felt quite angry with the protagonist and their actions, but all the different ways they had tried to distract you from the true identity were quite justified in my opinion. The author has done a fantastic job of hooking readers into this book, and I might be as bold as to say that it can even capture the attention of people who generally do not prefer supernatural themes. I feel that the author could have done a better job with world-building and portraying the events unfolding globally. Even though I am not personally a fan of publications in series, this book makes me ever so eager to read the next books in the series. The author has also remembered to show ample care to the supporting characters and how the protagonist interacts and shares his thoughts on them. Who could have imagined a simple Sergeant like Charles Gray would turn out to be someone we could have never imagined? The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and I only wish the others who will read this book can share my feelings on how Charles and his mind change their perspective throughout the chapters. Other authors of genuine publications and fan fiction can take a note or two from the author on how to surprise the reader and in a good manner. If there was something I had to critique, it is that I implore the author to stick to simpler synonyms of the complex words they had utilised to convey the context of the scenes and happenings.
