If you are ready for an adventure involving ancient Greek gods, mystical powers, terrifying enemies, and a fierce female protagonist, Storm Front Over Atlantis: Olympic Legacy by E.W. Roberts is the book for you.

Although the novel jumps right into the action, which is confusing at first due to its futuristic setting, I can honestly say that after learning who the characters are in later chapters, this book held my attention captive. Different character perspectives are shared, and in the early chapters, it becomes a bit jumbled. Ultimately, the characters who are introduced are worth it as they play a vital role in shaping Vic into the person she needs to become.

The main character, Victoria “Vic” Hartley, makes bold moves to try to appear normal, even though she is far from it. We learn that she discovers a power within herself that allows her to connect with everything around her: the stationary rocks, the cautious wildlife, and even her crazy high school classmates. This awakened power attracts a darkness to her in the form of the antagonist, creepy Vachel. Vachel is almost infection-like or a deadly disease, if not taken care of right away, the wound could fester and you could be lost. The way Roberts wrote Vachel can only be described as sinister and filled with horror. A warning for future readers: this book contains very graphic scenes of blood, pain, and death, mainly due to this antagonist. For some, the death scenes might be triggering if you have lost a loved one. Aside from the horrific battle imagery portrayed, there's hardly any language and no sexual scenes described. This novel is better suited for a more mature audience or older young adults.

The author does a fantastic job of creating the story and incorporating other characters that add depth and emotion. Aside from the first initial confusion regarding the timeline and the frequent switches in characters, Storm Front Over Atlantis: Olympic Legacy deserves a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating from me.
