Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is a book about twin brothers and their friends trying to study for their SATs in the morning and getting tangled up in a supernatural adventure. They head to their friends house to study and practice for their band when a storm hits and soon the brothers are wrapped up in trying to rescue their friends before the golfers sacrifice them to summon a demon. Not only do they have to deal with the golfers, but they also have to deal with the golfers mortal enemies - the Servants of Darkness.
This book, much like J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison's other book, is very well written and keeps you interested from the beginning all the way through to the end and then leaves you wanting more. It is clever and funny and written in such a way that holds your attention all the way to the end. Full of fun and drama mixed with some supernatural and serious plot lines, this book has something for everyone in it.
The characters in this book are very relatable - just ordinary teenagers who want to do certain things in their lives, like be in a band or get a good job in film production. They have their own problems and they are not perfect but instead, they are normal people. This made it very easy to relate and put yourself in their shoes. Anything they went through it felt like I was going through to and I almost felt compelled to keep reading to make sure we were going to be ok.
There wasn't really anything about this book that I didn't like. Everything was so well done and the story was so good that nothing really stood out as something that could have been done better or improved on. The writing seemed to flow perfectly to match whatever was happening in the story giving it almost a musical tempo with rising and falling in all the right places. Overall it was an amazing book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was just an all round good book. Good story, good characters and well written. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends as I believe it is one that many will enjoy. I hope J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison writes more books (and possibly a sequel) as I will be one of the first in line to read them.
