[Following is a volunteer review of "Heartaches 2" by H.M. Irwing.]

I was immediately interested from the intriguing description alone to read H.M. Irwing’s book called Heartaches 2. As a reader of romance and as someone who has experienced heartache in life, I was compelled to begin the storyline.

From the start of the book I was hooked in from the prologue, I was appreciative to find well-written descriptions and an interesting introduction to the characters. Rafael Luis Brown was introduced to the readers in vivid detail tossing and turning in bed with his “long, muscular frame slicked with sweat” and then there was Anna with “her own varying shades of nightmares retreating unattended to the very fringes of her aching soul so that she may tend to Rafe.” I learned a lot from the beginning prologue, about the style of the book and I knew I would continue to be appreciative of the author’s style from that point on.

In chapter one the reader learns both Rafe and Anna Simmons are considered victims, having been abused, drugged and raped in their troubled past. Through Anna’s eyes we learn that although there were hardships and heartache in their both their lives, she does not see Rafe as a victim. I could relate to Anna's point of view and in her growing attachment for Rafe. Between the two characters there is described such a love that it could bring them strength and closeness to be more then just victims.

There is a genuine bond between the two growing characters and the writer creates an enjoyable and even playful dialogue in-between moments of serious fighting and heartache. During one chapter Anna and Rafe are spending time together and suggested to play a game of badminton when Rafe lightens the mood and asks, “You mean bedminton?” Moments of connection lighthearted and in depth are clearly present throughout the novel. The author succeeds at creating intimate real moments that compelled me reading along into the story. Because of this created interest, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I truly appreciated the attention to detail, the realness and pure moments between the characters.

I would recommend reading this book to anyone who enjoys a solid character development and well thought out in depth personalities. Without giving away too much plot, as the story progresses Anna really comes into her own. We learn even more about what makes her such a strong individual seeking out justice and, as a woman, I connected with her struggle and compassion. I enjoyed the playful banter in the beginning, but the book really comes into its stride as it progresses. There is a serious momentum, a reflection to the past as Anna sets out. In my opinion, this story is being more then just a victim, being heroic, finding the ability to strike forward in the face of heartache and hardships.

I have read and written the review of Heartaches 2 by I.M Irwing. Anna Walters-Simmons acts as protagonist character in the story who suffered from cruelty, rapist and remorseless behaviors from her closely linked people. She is passing from a very poor condition full of grief but also trying to come back to its normal position with the desire of vengeance. Raphael Russo Brown, often called Rafe is the boyfriend of Anna and remains with in all of the difficulties suffered by her because all the conditions had also been suffered by him. The erroneous and disturbed mental conditions of both members bring them to a unity and match. Thanks for your great review.
