A month ago people in New York City were shocked when they saw what looked like a meteor heading for their city. Most people ran away but a few went towards the crash site in the middle of Central Park hoping to see the rock that landed on Earth. Instead though, there was a naked man in the middle of the crater with long black wings. That’s how the Devil ended up in New York.

Felicity is a new journalist at the New York Times and has been working on a secret project trying to expose a pharmaceutical company for making a new virus instead of trying to cure them. She is getting close to the end when her source gets fired. On top of that, her boss just called her up for what could be the story of a lifetime, interviewing the Devil. She wasn’t scared to write this story, more nervous, but what she did not expect was the strong attraction between them.

I am so happy I got the opportunity to read Devilish by Tricia Barr! After reading the summary of the book I was not sure where Tricia Barr would go with this story but there are so many turns I did not expect! She does mention that our main character is not religious but that people who are ran scared into shelters or gave the Devil money so that they would not go to Hell. She even talks about what Hell is like in the story.

One of my favorite parts of the book was the conversation Felicity and the Devil have when she is interviewing him. This is when he explains why he escaped Hell and his being on Earth is not the extinction of humans. She makes Lucifer seem more human by also asking him what name he prefers to be called since different cultures call him different things. He does, however, use his powers on occasion for things such as making sure all the lights are green when he drives, reading people’s thoughts, and unlocking doors when needed.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, because not only did I love the story but I discovered a new author I like. This is a quick moving story that you won’t want to put down until you are done with the book. The characters are well developed and you cheer them on once you find out Lucifer is a good guy. The only thing I would have enjoyed would be an epilogue, but that is a personal preference. Happy reading!

This is a very good and thorough review. Based on your review of the book and the summary, it makes me think of the tv show, Lucifer. It makes me intrigued to read it and see how similar the two are.
