Superhighway is a sci-fi fantasy book written by Alex Fayman. We follow the life of Alex Fine as he discovers an unusual talent of traveling through the fibre optic cables of the internet.

Born in L.A and raised in an orphanage, Alex had had a few failed attempts at adoption during his stay, always ending up back in the care of Ms. Jenkins, the administer of the orphanage. At the age of 18, Alex soon discovered that he was very different to everyone else. He had an ability like no other and began to travel all over the world in just a few seconds using the online network. He was able to use his newly found powers to do incredible things. He could access and save many pieces of data and information and ended up gaining billions of US dollars by emptying the bank accounts of some of the most powerful criminals. But things didn’t quite turn out the way he imagined. Although the story involves a few different characters, mainly girls who Alex becomes involved with, he ends up very lonely and unable to stay in any location for too long.

There were a few times when I found Alex’s actions quite frustrating. So much so, that I physically wanted to shout at him and tell him to be careful and learn from his previous mistakes. I became very absorbed in the story and enjoyed seeing Alex develop as a character.

The book is a short and easy read of only 255 standard pages and 46 chapters. The pace moves the story along steadily and occasionally includes some intense drama that has you on the edge of your seats and needing to read more. The story flows from beginning to end and I was eager to keep reading the entire way through. I loved the constant ups and downs.

A sentence on the first page is a great example of what is about to come. Although, you will only realise this once you follow Alex on his journey. ‘The reality was simple; I would never escape my problems.’ Even with Alex’s magnificent transportation talents, he is still unable to outrun his actions. Everything soon catches up with him through silly errors that put himself and others at risk.

The cover is a perfect representation of the electroportation. The image is exactly as described and it makes it very easy to imagine how this new form of transportation actually works. The descriptions are very detailed and can even make you believe that this could be real within modern technology.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Although some errors were found it wasn’t enough to detract from the story. I enjoyed this book so much I’ve already downloaded and started to read the next book in this series to find out what happens next! I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the sci-fi/fantasy genre as well as technology, travel and transport mixed with a lot of drama!
