Serendipity Mystery by R.F. Kristi is an engaging mystery book that is targeted at ages 7-10. However, due to the wonderful explanations, vivid descriptions and illustrations it would be a great book for students learning the English language. Often older students who are learning English can not find books that are age appropriate while still being easy enough to read alone. This wonderful mystery book would hold their attention while also working on their foundation in the English language. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
This book has earned 4 stars due to the interesting story line, and solid grammar. I find it very important that a story for young children have a solid grammar foundation and this book certainly delivers. The book is a part of the Inca Book Series: Diary of a Snoopy Cat. While this title is part of a series, the writing in this book is so descriptive and well thought out that the title can be read as a stand alone novel. This is great because sometimes purchasing the entire series can become expensive. As a reader you could purchase this book, and not feel like you are missing the bigger picture of the series. With this title you are constantly left wondering what will happen next.
Serendipity mystery is about a vacation in Sri Lanka, (which is in Southeast Asia) that Inca and her family take. We are reintroduced to Inca (the leader of her very own detective agency), Fromage, (her little brother who adores cheese),Cara, (her Siamese sister who is very girly), Charlotte, (their hamster), Missy,( their mom )and Terrance the dog.
What detective is allowed do simply go on a vacation though. We quickly are tossed into a situation that results in Inca and Co. investigating a robbery of artifacts from a museum( coins and a rare sword). As they are on vacation we are Introduced to a series of supporting characters such as Meena, a baby elephant, and Rani, a sea turtle. Solo, the detective and owner of Terrance is called by the museum to find the valuables. Therefore, it is up to Inca, the snoopy cat, and her friends to find the valuables. There are many exciting mini adventures, twists and turns while this crew races to solve the mystery of the missing museum
I feel that this book has been professionally edited and the grammar, punctuation, and language suggest that they have been given major importance to. The book is a short yet interesting read. The plot line is clear and easy to follow. This book can be read as stand alone or enjoyed as part of the series. I am excited to see what happens next for Inca and her crew of mystery solving friends.
