If you are looking for a great comedy to read, Call Me Pomeroy, could be the book for you. Call me Pomeroy was written by James Hanna. It is a fictional comedy.
Eddie Beasley, aka Pomeroy, is a homeless street musician who is trying to make a big name for himself in the music business. He is also a parolee who keeps getting himself in trouble with the law. Poor Jessica Jeminez, his parole officer, tries her best to help keep him out of trouble but Pomeroy cannot be tamed. Pomeroy will do whatever it takes to get a music contract with Apple Records. Meanwhile, Pomeroy tries to convince Jessica to be his manager. Pomeroy travels around the world while trying to stay away from the police. He introduces his hit song, "Ants in my Pants." He attracts fans everywhere he goes. He also thinks that every woman is already attracted to him. Pomeroy goes on crazy adventures and meets very interesting people throughout his journey.
The cover of the book is what first attracted me to this story. I thought it had a very funny picture of him chained to an arrow. It kept me interested in seeing what the story was about. Pomeroy is a very unique and funny character. I couldn't help but like him. He makes you laugh and want to slap him at the same time. He refers to himself in the third person which I think helps him sound more comical. His story is entertaining and keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. A lot of characters that he meets are also very funny and some are very unforgettable. The lyrics in his song are very catchy and humorous.
My favorite character in the book was Jessica Jeminez. She never gave up on Pomeroy. Even when you could tell that she was definitely frustrated with him, she still wanted to help him as much as she could. I also liked Paul. He reminded me of another Pomeroy. He seemed just as crazy and probably would have a made a great sidekick.
The language throughout the book is very crude. There are a lot of cuss words. There are also sexist remarks everywhere in the book. I do not recommend this book to anyone that would find this book bothersome. I would not recommend this book to children. I think anyone who is not bothered by his language would find this book funny.
This book is fairly short. There are only 190 pages. There are only 6 chapters. I didn't find any grammar errors while reading the book.
I give Call Me Pomeroy 4 out of 4 stars. I am thankful for being able to read it and I hope others will enjoy it too.
