Devilish by T.L. Barr is about Lucifer and the reporter he falls in love with. Felicity is a reporter who accepts an assignment interviewing Lucifer. He came from Hell to earth and everyone wants to know why he’s here. They share an instant attraction and he agrees to tell her part of his story each time they meet, in the hopes of seducing her. Through their meetings she learns more about Lucifer as a person and they form a genuine bond. In the meantime, Felicity is also working on a story hoping to expose a Pharmaceutical company of creating a deadly virus. The book is riddled with romance, angel politics, and surprising plot twists.

This book contains a good amount of romance. I liked that their relationship was paced realistically. They didn’t just instantly fall into bed, although they were both clearly attracted to one another. I also found the characters to be likeable. I don’t tend to like alpha males who can get any woman they want, but in this case, it fit Lucifer’s character. The author portrays Felicity as a strong, intelligent female who strives to do the right thing. I really liked both characters and their interactions.

At the beginning of the book, I had a hard time understanding why Lucifer pursued Felicity so adamantly. I find it difficult to follow stories where there’s an instant connection, or the individual is mysteriously “different” than past love interests. This completely made sense later in the book when the author revealed a plot twist. This made the story really come together.

The book was very well written with good descriptions, well conceptualized characters, a fully developed plot, and no errors that I noticed. The author did an amazing job of engaging me throughout the novel. I thought the author did a good job of using conflict to further the story. Every aspect of the book worked toward the plot and bringing our two protagonists together.

My favorite part about this novel was the romance. It was surprisingly realistic, especially given the paranormal elements of the story. I enjoyed seeing how the relationship between Lucifer and Felicity developed from lust to love. They were strong, likeable characters that had clear voices. The plot was also very well thought out and engaging. For these reasons, I rate it a 4 out of 4 stars. Readers will enjoy the professional quality of this book, complex plot, and believable characters. I look forward to reading more by this author!
