Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
The book is about Inca, Fromage, Cara, and Charlotte on vacation on the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka with their mom. They were at a seaside village named Galle. Their mystery adventure started when an old antique sword from the main museum in Columbo had been stolen. Due to the stolen sword, Solo and Terrance fly into the island to investigate the stolen sword. Inca and Company use the facts and help of some new friends to help uncover the case.
I loved that the story was exhilarating and kept you on edge waiting for what would come next. I like that they introduced Inca and Company to the reader. I liked learning the team and the bio on each of them. All the new friends they make on their vacation. It makes this story relatable to kids because they are good at making new friends on vacations. The Illustrations are very creative and entertaining. It is perfect for a kid switching from purely illustrated books to chapter books with little illustrations. The illustrations show the details of the passages to help the young reader understand what the passage is trying to depict. This is good for young kids learning to read. It will also help boost their confidence in reading. For example, Inca being crowned by angels. It shows the cat along with two angels in a crown and robe. I like the questions throughout the book that Inca goes through in her head. It makes this very relatable to kids because kids usually run through possible ways a problem can go.
I only have one dislike in the book and it is that the illustration of the snake. The snake seems very friendly in the illustration, but the words depict it as possibly trying to get Inca to move closer to eat her. That would be why Inca moves away. I think that one picture may confuse the young reader.
I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book is very entertaining and suspenseful. Keeps you reading till you reach the end of the book! There was only one thing I could find to dislike about the book, and it is a very minor thing. I think kids will love and enjoy every second of this book.
I think this book is for ages 6-8. This is a good starter chapter book for younger kids.
