Superhighway, by Alex Fayman is a strange and exciting take on the superhero theme. Where a stack of complicated incidents conspire to give one boy an extraordinary ability. Alex Fine has only ever known the woman that runs the orphanages a mother. Suddenly Alex is thrown into a new world full of intrigue, danger and heartbreak.

As Alex turns 18 everything changes. His amazing powers give him the ability to change the fate of many. Whether the changes are for the best or not depends on the person's point of view. All the while trying to make the world better Alex is confronted with glimpses of his life and past. Will he be able to accomplish any good at all and will he ever understand who his really is?

As I started reading Superhighway, by Alex Fayman I was impressed by the eloquent descriptions of people and locations. Further in I fell in love with the level of detail given to emotion and the ease with which I became attached to the characters and how quickly I was pulled into the drama and excitement. The pain and insecurities of the main character are a giant tug on my heart strings and I am willing to bet it would do the same to the gut of any reader. There are so many places that leave you unsure if you should support young Alex Fine or scream at him for being stupid, I was on my toes the whole time!

I gave this 4 out of 4 stars for so many reasons. I cannot come up with a reason not to like this if you are a lover of Science Fiction or any story that effortlessly takes you out of your surrounds and submerges you in the narrative. The twists and turns in this left me wanting more while holding my heart in my throat. The flow of the writing was easy to read without being childish, the descriptions were amazing without being overdone and flowery. The characters are human and lovable or hateable depending on the author’s intent. I felt like I was experiencing everything that Alex did on his rollercoaster adventure first hand.

I recommend this book to the avid science fiction and fantasy reader as well as anyone who wants to dip their toes in the genre. If you are a lover of mystery or adventure novels this is something you should definitely check out. I have one small complaint...the next book in the series isn’t out yet!
