Would you like to be able to travel immediately to any place that you see on the Internet? Alex Fine, the main character of Superhighway by Alex Fayman, can do just that. He brings up a website location, grabs the end of the computer cable, and is immediately transported through the Internet to arrive at his selected destination. Alex has lived his whole life in an orphanage and has nothing to his name, but he soon learns that with his new talent he can get anything that he wants. How did Alex develop his ability? Is he the only person with this strange talent?

The concept of the story is very appealing and extremely imaginative. Being able to travel where ever you want instantly is a dream come true. If there is internet access, Alex can go there. The idea, that you could discover a person’s secrets by delving into their electronic records and personal accounts, sounds very plausible in today’s world of internet hacking.

Alex Fine is a sympathetic well-defined character. I found it very believable that a teenager who has nothing would go to the extreme when he can suddenly get all of the money, fast cars, and expensive possessions that he desires. He is a fundamentally good person who cares deeply for others and wants to help them. However, he engages in some bad choices and illegal activities in his desire to right the wrongs he sees in the world. He loses his way morally when he tries to take the law into his own hands and punish the people whom he believes are evil.

I didn't like Alex's excessive drug and alcohol use. Also, his sexual promiscuity and unfaithfulness were strong character flaws. However, these traits were consistent with a teenage boy who suddenly finds that he can have and do whatever he wants. I thought that the author should have made Alex more cautious with his talent. He was very reckless. I thought that he would have been more careful after being warned that he was in danger and after he discovered the truth about his family.

Superhighway, by Alex Fayman, is a fast-paced, exciting adventure into the unbelievable. Danger, murder, and even love occur in the story. It was very well edited as I found only one small error that did not distract from the storytelling. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction or thrillers. Because of its premise of fantasy, this is not a book for a person who likes only realistic novels. Also, because of the drug and alcohol use and sexual encounters, I would not recommend this story for children. I liked Superhighway so much that I am giving it 4 out of 4 stars. I can't wait to purchase the sequel, Superhighway 2, to continue the story.
