Crime thrillers are usually any days cup of tea especially if they are written by the best authors. The Interloper is a tension-filled and delightful read written by Dave Zeltserman. It is set in contemporary America.

Dan Willis is an unemployed fellow who finds his luck (given his current situation) when he recruited by the Factory, a Homeland protection run by the United States government. Dan undergoes training and he becomes one of the top highly trained assassins. He is later given missions to carry out for the Factory and his unique skills are commendable.

Dan always fulfills his tasks and does a clean job in good faith. Revolution comes in when he is ordered to take out his 24th target. Dan does his investigations and finds out that his next victim is not dangerous at all and that he is an ordinary man leading a normal life, same to all the others he has killed. Knowing the little secret behind Factory's assassinations becomes his greatest undoing. It's therefore not safe for him in here and he is on the run. What's the reason behind the killings? Will Willis be able to defeat the Factory?

The book is divided into three parts distinctively described. The first part is about Dan's recruitment, his missions and the discovery of the Factory's dirt. This leads us to part two where Dan is on the run since what he knows cannot get out. He is hired by a gang to steal an invaluable asset. Part three is about the interloper and the struggle to survive. Here everyone fights to the end and only the strong will survive.

The book sets off speedily after Dan discovers the secret behind The Factory's innocent killings. The pacing is steady and it captures tension, fear and surprise. I loved the author's writing style and the plot development. The unfolding of the mystery is amazing and It kept me guessing every time. The characters were interesting and I could visualize the gang members doing their thing. The vivid descriptions of events are detailed and I could see Dan staging the deaths to look like an accident or a natural course.

The book is complicated I must say and this is more of an observation. It requires a lot of concentration to avoid getting things twisted. The editing is also on point. The book cover is attractive and it drew me in. It explains on its own what the story is about.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There's nothing that I didn't like about this book. I recommend it to readers who love crime thrillers. It can make an awesome and trending movie. This is the first book I am reading from Dave Zeltserman and I agree that it is a gem.
