You, The People is a compilation of short stories by Pablo Digenio. This collection can be easily categorized as horror fiction. The book contains six short stories by the author, and some illustrations by Martin Digenio.

All six stories are independent and not interrelated with each other, but do have the similarity of discussing the evil within a person and the karma. The first story is of Rebecca Aseptue, a successful corporate manager but with an attitude high as the Everest. Second story is of Alfred Ditezt, an old veteran living alone and struggling with arthritis. Third is about Gary Haits who is struggling in his marital life and decides to take it out on the world. Next is the story of Mike Notsew, a corrupt construction contractor who is given a chance to redeem himself. Fifth story is of Johnny Fiendin, a gamer who loves the virtual life more than the real world. Last story is of Teresa Egrette, an alcoholic young woman.

The book is a very entertaining read from start to the end and really keeps your eyes glued to the text. The stories are written in complete detail with every expression and scene clearly written and properly sketched. Thrill, horror and suspense is beautiful expressed in words and some parts of the book really gives you goose bumps. Each character is connectable but does not create empathy. The events don’t make you feel too bad for the characters. Even the violent and gory scenes are written in such details that they send a chill down the spine. Such stories sometimes leave the reader in a bad mood, because of a sad ending, but the stories are so entertaining and with such good suspense that it really leaves you surprised.

The best story, for me, was the story of the construction contractor, Mike Notsew. It reflected how life gives you an opportunity to be a better person but the love of materialistic world badly distracts you. The lesser good story was of Johnny Fiendin, the gamer. It was a bit less appalling than the other stories and the events were easily predictable. This however was covered by the ending. This was definitely the ending I never saw coming and it definitely made up for the rest of the story.

I will easily give the book 4 out of 4 stars. There were few, small editorial mistakes but can be easily ignored. The book is definitely for adults and some stories are so intense that they are inappropriate for younger audience. I will recommend this book to all the fans of horror and suspense genre. They will definitely enjoy reading it.
