The Interloper by Dave Zeltserman is an action thriller novel. I did not know what to expect with this book; however, I was pleasantly surprised. The story is about an assassin Dan Willis, who begins to question the role he is playing for the government organization that recruited him and several other individuals. He ends up making many rebellious choices which put him in a dangerous position with his bosses. He finds himself on the run, and getting involved with sketchy characters, committing various crimes; all in an attempt to rid his life of the source for his problems.

I loved how descriptive the writing was. I could fully immerse myself into the story, as there was enough information for me to do so. I was made to feel as if I was in the moment with the characters. The cohesive storytelling was another aspect of the novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. The pieces fit together well and made sense. At no point of the book was I ever upset because the story didn't make sense. There were no unanswered questions, and any questions that existed were answered shortly after having them.

The character development was significant for leading and supporting characters. There was a back story for everyone or at the very least an explanation of the person's relevance. I loved that, as it allowed me to understand why many things happened the way it did. I never had the question who that person was, or why they were involved.

I really liked that the main character remained smart and stable throughout the story. Anything dumb Willis did was still not foolish enough to be annoying to me as there was also a good reason for it. The most important thing for me was nothing happened just because it could. This for me is a move that many authors make that lowers the quality of the story.

I rate this story 4 out of 4 stars because it was indeed a very good book. There was nothing to hate about this novel. It was well edited, and I did not see any errors. This book reads like the script of an action movie. There was never a dull moment. I would recommend this book to readers who love thrillers, action novels or just something different. This book is definitely book-club worthy as many points can be discussed and enjoyed.
