Superhighway by Alex Fayman is a sci-fi thriller. The base of the story is the current technology which has made communication faster than ever i.e. the internet.
Alex Fine, the protagonist is an orphan who didn’t have a conventional childhood. He was adopted twice, but after a while was returned to the orphanage both the times by the foster parents. These incidents do not break him but make him a strong-willed adult. He has a keen interest in education and wants to have a bright future. His inclination is mainly toward the current technology i.e. the internet.
Alex gets access to the internet when the computers are installed in the orphanage. This becomes a turning point in his life. He is gifted with a superpower which works in the vicinity of an internet connection. Life is never going to be the same for him as he is meant for bigger purposes in life. You will witness the adventures of Alex, and also what he is capable of doing with the gift that he possesses, in this read. There are various aspects to this fast-paced story such as love, betrayal, sex, philanthropy, crime, and politics.
I loved this fast-paced story and never felt like putting the book down before finishing the read. Certain events in the life of the protagonist were heart-warming and have been presented very well to deliver the impact. Alex Fine’s character has different facets which are quite contrasting to one another. He is a modest guy who always wants to help the needy ones. But he also doesn’t shy away from being a passionate lover and living an extravagant life with his girlfriends. However, overall the author has crafted the character of the protagonist in a way which gives him a charismatic personality that should leave a long-lasting impression with the readers.
Alex Fayman takes the reader on the journey to different locations ranging from Amsterdam in Europe to Miami in the USA, through this story. The places have been described effectively for you to picturise it in your minds. The sci-fi part of the story has been put quite well in the book and entwines flawlessly with different aspects of human nature like love, betrayal, and revenge. There are a few scenes which depict murder and sensuality but they fit appropriately within the story.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There are a few editing errors but the book seems to be professionally edited. I would recommend this book to any adult who loves a fast-paced sci-fi thriller filled with human emotions. I do not recommend this scene to minors because of the mention of marijuana, a few passionate scenes, and some murder-scenes.
