December book discussion: favorite book this year

Instead of reading a specific genre, I want you to talk about your favorite book his year you've read (doesn't have to have been for this). Why did you like it? What genre does it falls under? Who would you recommend it to?

My favorite book is the Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. It makes me laugh or just peps me up whenever I'm having a bad day.

My favorite book this year is by far Running Home by Barbra Ellen Brink. It is about a woman who flees her home in search of a better life without her cheating husband. She is forced to find a disk to save her children after her husband is killed by a band of thieves. It's pretty great.

My favourite book this year was a close call by Eloise March. It's a romantic comedy written from the view of the main characters vagina. It only took an hour, and was easy reading, but even just thinking back on some of the funniest scenes, I come pretty close to spitting out my coffee. The plot wasn't amazing, but he characters and dialog more than made up for it. It was like watching a great stand up comedian.

My favourite book this year was Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I have read pretty much everything she has written. Her Shadowhunter world just blows me away. I sometimes forget it is not actually real. Lady Midnight is amazing for saying it is the first book of a third series set in the same world. Highly recommend if you have not read any.

My favorite book would have to be The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. By far the best depiction of suicide, depression, and their effects that I've ever read. Plus, I won an autographed copy of it! How cool is that?

My favorite mystery book this year would be Black Echo by Michael Connelly. The latest book in the Harry Bosch series received a lot of press. So I decided to read the first book. I loved it and have read 3 books in the series so far. The characters are multifaceted, and the plots are intricate enough to keep me guessing.

I am going to cheat and list two books. I also loved Rowling's new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This book is actually the script for the new play taking London by storm. It takes place 20 years later and follows Harry's son, Albus, as he struggles with the unwanted attention of being "Harry Potter's son". This new story is engrossing. Some people have found it difficult to enjoy because of the script format, but most have enjoyed the book anyway.

Then you would most certainly love this one!! I read it on my kindle- received it free with the aid of the BookBub website. It is originally 3 or 4 dollars I think, but they often show it on the bookbub recommendations- keep an eye out
