In Station Eleven, characters find themselves in a post-apocalyptic world where survival is a struggle and scavenging has become a necessity. When Kristen and August stumble upon an untouched house, the exploration begins. If you found yourself in this situation, what would you look for?

Aside from food, I don't know why they didn't take more clothes or shoes. Those seem like things that are necessities that also wear out pretty quickly, especially with as much walking as they do.

Medicine. Food. Things that can be used as weapons. Definitely shoes. Maybe toilet paper... Hehe.

If it had been me, finding a home that was still almost intact would have been such a temptation - after years of traveling to be able to stay in one location! The things I would have looked for would be medicines, food, clothing, tools, soap, and other toiletries. The scavenging excursions reminded me of I am Legend. It is one of the only other post-apocalyptic stories that I am familiar with and in the movie (I have never read the book) I remember Dr. Neville searching house to house.

The obvious answers here are what Kirsten and August's JOB was to look for: food, medicine, clothes, and anything of general use. I think the deeper answer here is more closely related to Kirsten's attempt to find anything related to that long lost actor she barely remembers. For me personally then, I'm sure that I would look for anything that reminded me of who I used to be and how the world has changed since there. Artifacts that touched, even remotely, to my previous life and how it relates to my job, family, home, etc.

Like others said I would look for food, medicine, clothes, and other necessities.

I'd look for the necessities but also for small entertainments. Playing cards, books, comics, anything that can add some fun into the daily struggle. Struggling to survive doesn't mean you can't spend a few minutes to enjoy yourself.

Food, clothes and other things that you would take with you while going on a journey, definitely some weapon as well if this journey is a dangerous one.

Aside from the obvious survival necessities, I would probably do exactly as Kirsten and August did and look for things that gave me an emotional connection to the former world.

I would also look for necessities - food, clothing, medicine, any form of protection, etc.

I think that I would look for shoes, medicine, clothes, weapons, maybe food. I believe that like Kirsten I would also look for connections to the past world. I can see how that would be comforting, but I most likely would not take heavy objects with me like the paperweight or a large book. It would be too heavy and get annoying over time.

I would definitely take everything I could carry that could somehow be useful to me in the future. In a situation like this, you never know when you'll stumble across another great opportunity to get supplies. As some of you said, I'd take food, clothes, weapons, and medicine. Maybe a few blankets or pillows, too.

I will look for the emergency kit. I will also look for whatever food and tools I could get because I am stocked for the time being.

I agree with what pretty much everyone else has said so far. I'd look for food, medicine, toiletries. I think that I'd also focus on finding clothes too, there's only so much mending that can go into something before you're running around without it...
