I think it depends on the circumstances. Sometimes sustainability should be considered. If you go through it today how about tomorrow. They could be other options depending on the situation.

Which do you agree with? Do they both have a place and time? Why/why not?
Survival is a deep instinct in human nature and it's necessary but I feel it's not enough and it also depends on the situation you find yourself in.

There is a saying about situation determining line of action. I think that plays out in this case.
