What would you have done in Arthur's place?

Post by Christina O Phillips »

Arthur willingly lets a demon inside of him in order to save Abigail.
Would you be able to do the same?

Unless I was positive there would be a way back, then no.

Ummmm... Absolutely not. But how do any of us know what we will do until we are there?

Considering the circumstances, and considering the cause, I might consider doing it. Provided, I am certain that there is a way out.

I wouldn't have done it for Abigail but I would've done it for someone else who I love very dearly.

If it would save someone that I loved, I would do it.

I think that Arthur did this not only for Abigail's sake. He started to lose his humanity, he felt guilty and sought a punishment for himself. :(

I would do the same. However this situation is impossible for me (I don't believe in demons even after reading Raven's Peak :snooty: ).

If I was Arthur I would do it. He has almost nothing to lose. He should do it as soon as he considered that the demon is too strong because of preventing demage of Abigail´s body.

I don´t know if I would do it even for my love ones. Here I can think about it but there it has to be quick reaction and I don´t know if I would go "frozen" or if I would go for it hastily without double thinking.

I can’t think of an answer since I don’t believe in demons. But in this novel, I really admired Arthur for sacrificing himself to save Abigail.

not really sure. I mean, this is a romantic idea and all - sacrificing yourself in the place of another. If it were only death, sure, I would do that. But to be possessed by an actual real demon is a totally different story. I suppose Arthur is assuming he is damned no matter what, so if he has a chance at saving someone, he should. That's the only caveat, though.

As others have said, yes I think for someone I loved above all else, like my children. I would like to say I would think about the consequences, but in reality pretty sure I wouldn't. My heart would trump my brain.

Nope, I would not be able to do what he did. I don't think there is anyone in this world that I would do that for. I would try to come up with another way to save them.

To be honest, I probably would have done the same thing. He did what he had to in order to save his daughter.

I loved the character of Arthur. It was definitely the right thing to do. He was a selfless and strong individual.
