Marathon analogy

Post by KAMama »

Was anyone else bothered by both Haatim and Abigail comparing how tired they are to running a marathon and an academic exercise at the same time? Either another instance to bring it into a common frame of reference is needed or else a different way to express how they are feeling. This way just feels lazy to me.

Yes, the phrase was used multiple times. Everytime I saw it the "illusion of the story" was broken and I suddenly realised I was just reading a book.

I was perfectly fine with it. most people can relate because nost people have run marathons at least once. I think it makes you understand how the characters felt in that particular moment instead of using some weird poetic comparison that no one can relate too.

Not really, it gives a good idea of how exhausted they were. Many of us, including me, have tried running for a long time and fail so I can kinda imagine the exhaustion.

I think it was authentic to the expression they were trying to portray I mean they were really tired from all that running.
