Children's Books Discussion Help
Since many authors have written a ton of children's books, I'm going to just list popular authors that I get asked for every day as a Children's Librarian that usually appeal to adults as well.
Some popular picture book authors (typically PreK-2 or 3rd grade or ages 0 to 7 or 8 ):
Eric Carle (animal books)
Michael Ian Black (Chicken Cheeks is the funniest)
Don and Audrey Wood (writes really silly books)
Jane O'Conner (Fancy Nancy, also has a chapter book series called Nancy Clancy)
Mo Willems (writes Pigeon books and Elephant and Piggie easy readers)
Any fairytale picture book
Other popular chapter/easy reader chapter book authors/series include:
Barbara Park
Brandon Mull
Shannon Hale (writes Ever After High series that's popular)
Star Wars Children's Chapter books (So You Want to Be a Jedi by Tom Angleberger is told as if you're Luke Skywalker)
Lauren Myracle (realistic fiction)
Jeff Kinney
Wayside Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar
Roald Dahl
Don't forget, there's always non-fiction or biographies as well.
