Who Had the Biggest Impact on Your Life?

Even though Alexander Fine grows up in a foster home, he has a very close relationship with his foster mother. She nurtured, encouraged and loved him as if he were her own son. It is apparent that she helped shape his character and played a huge part in the man that he is today.

What kind of impact did your own mother have on your character or life? If not your mother, who played a huge role in your life? How did this person make a difference?

Undoubtedly my father. He is an amazing man who has taught me how to always love, respect and forgive. I cant imagine ever not having him around to gove me a hug, advise or serious talk.

That's a really good question. I didn't have a really close relationship with either of my parents. I was kind of self-sustaining from a pretty young age. I don't know that there was really anyone that stands out that was a big influence on me.

My parents made the biggest impact in my life. Not only did they raise me well but they also were there through every moment when I was sick with Ulcerative Colitis throughout high school, and they have always been the ones to love me and encourage me. I don't think I would have been able to get through any of the things that I have without them.

Another person who left a mark in my memory and who has a big influence on me was my first boss. He enjoyed every single minute of his day despite challenges in life. He inculcated in me that life is not a problem to solve but a gift to enjoy.

It would be hard not to say my parents had the biggest impact on my life but I have also had many "helpers" along the way including an awesome grade 2 and 3 teacher who just had so much compassion and love for her students. I remember her as one of the few people at school who really saw "me".

I can't imagine growing up in an orphanage, with a smattering a foster homes in between but since Alex did, it makes sense that the "mom" of the orphanage influenced his life in a significant way. For me, it was definitely my parents in my early life, followed by my husband and children.

My Dad for sure had the biggest impact on my life. He has always been my rock and given me security when I didn't have it anyplace else. I technically lived with my mother for my whole childhood, only seeing my dad every other weekend. But my mom was married five times and we moved around a lot. My dad staying in the same house, in the same place, and has been the same person that I've always been able to count on. I hope everyone has someone like him in their lives. I would like to say that my mom is a great person who did the best she could and loves me very much, but my dad had the biggest impact.

The person who had the biggest impact in my life was my grandmother. She was strong for her old age, she had been through a lot of tragedies in her life, and she was probably the most loving person in my family. She took care of me and loved me even when I was a little brat.

My parents probably had the most impact on my life. My mother had to work, so oftentimes she'd have to leave me and my brothers home. My father had to work a lot too, and since my brothers did things by themselves, I was pretty much alone all the time. Then, in my emotional teenage years, my parents and I didn't really get along that well, mostly because I felt like they weren't listening to me (which, in my adult years, I realize was the case). Even now, half the stuff I feel is probably because of them.
