Who is your favorite/least character and why?

Post by Heidi M Simone »

We meet a variety of people in Superhighway. Who would you say is the character you like the most? Why is that? Also, who would you say you like the least and why?

Well, I definitely like Alex the least. He isn't developed as a character. He doesn't grow and everything he does strikes me as selfish even when acting like Robin Hood. Somehow it still seems to be all about him.

I don't think I have a favorite character. Ms. Jenkins seems like a nice woman, but really doesn't have a central role in the story.

I guess it's my turn to agree with you, kandscreeley. :) I like Alex the least for the same reasons you've mentioned. Obviously, I don't like the gangsters who are involved in the story, but I don't feel like we know them very much, so I'll stick with Alex.

A favorite character...I like Ms. Jenkins, but it is hard to judge since she isn't central. I think Eva is sweet, naive, but nice. It seems like she has a kind heart and thinks about others. When Alex messes up, she doesn't stick around, which I like that about her. Though, I do think she jumped into a relationship with Alex pretty fast and maybe this had an effect on he viewed her - kind of easy. Maybe I'll just stick with Ms. Jenkins, then.

Yeah, the gangsters are hard to dislike because they aren't in the story enough. They are really far in the background of the story. It's hard to like someone who isn't really mentioned.

That is a very good point, kandscreeley. It's true - it's hard to like, or even dislike, someone who isn't really in the story very much. Plus, I think it would very easy to say that I don't like the gangsters because they are gangsters. That's not really an explanation why I don't like them. The few actions we see in the book don't really surprise me and I knew I had to view them as characters I shouldn't like anyway.

I agree that Alex is my least favorite which is quite unfortunate since he's the main character.

My favorite was Eva. I loved her ambition and her dream to be a lawyer for the underdogs. She wasn't a stuck-up rich girl. She was a genuine, good person who I found myself relating to.

I know not much character development went into the two bad guys Alex goes after but I did dislike them the most. Through them the author reminds us how some people make their millions by selling other people. Human trafficking is our modern day slavery and is happening all over the world. This leads me to my most liked character or should I say characters. They are Charlie and Carlos. These people are simple and caring of others. They show Alex what it means to think about others instead of just yourself.

I dislike Eva the most. I can't explain completely but her demeanor and mentality is not agreeable to me.

Charlie is my favorite character. He just seems like a really genuine, caring guy that I'd like to know. I'm not sure I have a least favorite, at least among the main and secondary characters.

This book has an interesting twist because almost everybody does not like the character of Alex. I too am not sure if in the second and third book, I will start to like Alex.

I believe my least favorite character was Alex's love interest in Cali. There was no perspective from her, she seemed like a character that was going to leave the story in no time because of this. My favorite character was Alex's butler on the island, Charlie. He was most interesting and real to me.

My least favorite was Alex. He was selfish and immature. He spent so much money on his own indulgences and he disrespected women.

Eva was my favorite. She had goals and she was intelligent. I was so angry when he cheated on her and admired her for walking away.

It also haunted me when the hotel girl got killed for no reason other than going out with the wrong guy.

Alex, though the main character, was a womanizer and that makes him my least favorite.

My least favorite character is Alex. He treats women poorly and makes a lot of impulsive and harmful decisions. He does good things, yes, but often for selfish reasons. I may pity him, but I do not like him.

It's harder to pick a favorite character, since the people who have actual redeeming qualities are only minor characters. I think Eva is my favorite character because she's kind, selfless, and has good intentions, but also because she does not stay with Alex after he wrongs her, which to me shows that she values herself more than her toxic relationship with him.
